Dear Amy,

I am so grateful for all of you reading this newsletter. It’s odd - sharing my life and personal mission with almost a thousand people. The odd part is the sense of connection I feel with this community. I don’t often see you, I don’t often talk to you - I may not even know you! And still, I have a sense of loving connectedness both to you and from you.

How Well Do You Hear What Your Body Is Saying?

One of my favorite EVER sayings is, “If you listen when your body whispers, it will not have to scream.” I find that listening to our bodies is not a skill that comes easy in this busy, busy world. We seem to treat our bodies like they are just that thing toting around our brains which are always thinking about stuff but never listening to anything until there is a major dysfunction! The Duke Wheel of Health states, “Mindful awareness of physical, mental, social, and spiritual well-being is the key to a person’s whole-person health” (find it here). So how well do you listen to your physical body? Take this Quiz!

  • Do you check in to see how your body feels BEFORE attempting to work your body? (in a workout, heavy chores, etc.)
  • Do you check in to see how your body feels AFTER working your body? (in a workout, heavy chores, etc.)
  • Do you take time daily to complete a body scan?
  • Do you know what a body scan is? 😂
  • When your body whispers something to you (feeling tired, in pain, tight) do you adjust your physical demands and care for it?
